Heungmin-Minjae lost without him? We need to fight as a team to take the blame

Klinsmann's 'senior' Lee Jae-sung emphasizes the need for teamwork when the squad is not at full strength.

The South Korean men's national soccer team, led by Jürgen Klinsmann, will play El Salvador in its second friendly of June at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Daejeon World Cup Stadium.

Klinsmann's men lost their first friendly against Peru on June 16, 0-1. It was a disappointing start to the 'real first period' of the Klinsmannhoe. In March, Klinsmann inherited much of Bento's roster and style due to the lack of time to select his own players. Klinsmann and his coaching staff traveled around the K League and Europe, picking up new faces such as Hong Hyun-seok, Ahn Hyun-beom, Park Yong-woo, and Park Kyu-hyun.

However, the squad was far from complete. 'Ace' Son Heung-min recently underwent sports hernia surgery and was sidelined, while Kim Min-jae went to Nonsan Army Training Center for three weeks of basic military training. Other key defenders like Kim Young-kwon were ruled out with injuries.

With so many key players missing and not enough starts to perfect their hand-eye coordination, Klinsmann's team faltered. They panicked under the opponent's pressure and made several mistakes in the buildup.

In a pre-training interview on the 18th, Hwang In-beom said, "We should have moved organically and created space whether we were defending or attacking. We need to work on that to make up for our poor performance in the last game. We had a meeting about it before training," he said, explaining where the team was lacking.

Some people even said, "Klinsmannhoe shouldn't be able to play without all the main players such as Son Heung-min and Kim Min-jae. 안전놀이터

Lee Jae-sung, a senior member of the Klinsmannhoe, said, "It's not that our pride is hurt, but that we didn't win as a team. We will work together as a team rather than as individuals to meet the demands of the new coach," he said, emphasizing the need to overcome it with solid organization. "It's up to us to make sure that such stories don't come up in the future," he said.
